Why are Smart Sunglasses Banned?

Under the existing Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) regulations, such hardware is classified as either a communication device or an audio/video recording device. The use of such technology near the PMOA is strictly forbidden to prevent potential manipulation, unauthorized information sharing, or match-fixing risks. The board has mandated that any team member in possession of such devices must surrender them to security personnel immediately.

Strict Enforcement of PMOA Rules

Earlier this season, the management of the Rajasthan Royals learned the hard way when their team manager was fined INR 1 Lakh for the unauthorized use of a mobile phone, an incident clearly captured on camera.
