She would definitely like, at some stage, when an opportunity arises and if we are able to compete and get into the Women’s Premier League, for us to be involved. But I cannot say exactly when it will happen. That is a call we will have to take.” While there is no immediate roadmap for entry, the intent is clear: CSK sees the value and importance of being part of the women’s professional circuit.

He remarked, “The WPL has already established itself as an important platform for the women’s game in a very short period of time. The growth of women’s cricket has been fantastic to witness. Personally, I think the future of the women’s game is extremely bright. We would love to own a women’s IPL team.”

Addressing why the franchise did not invest during the initial bidding phase, Burman emphasized that this was a result of business timing and strategic planning rather than a lack of support for women’s cricket. He explained that every investment group evaluates opportunities based on long-term business considerations, and their absence in the early stages should not be misconstrued.

Despite the visible excitement from legacy IPL franchises, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains measured in its approach to expansion.
